Functions
IQX solutions enable SAP processes to incorporate Microsoft's personal productivity tools (eg Outlook & Excel) and business servers (eg SharePoint, SQL, InfoPath) with the information, documents, transactions and workflows optimally distributed between SAP and Microsoft to the benefit of end users.
For example, Manage Excel models using live data sources, track email communications with partners in SAP CRM, trigger alerts based on SAP transactions, receive SAP workflow requests in Outlook, maintain knowledge wikis that reference SAP objects, use live chat to optimise SAP decisions.
The types of documents range from "documents" in proprietary SAP format typically stored in the SAP database
(such as financial documents, purchase orders, closed master records) to documents usually created, viewed
and/or edited by applications other than SAP, though they may have some significance or bearing on business
processes within the SAP system itself (for example, technical drawings referenced from bill of materials stored in the SAP database).
Microsoft SharePoint provides organizations with an integrated solution for managing the entire life cycle of
different types of content, including documents, forms, images, e-mail messages, and instant messages.
